"History is not a burden on the memory but an illumination of the soul."Lord Acton

In 2016 Webster Groves Presbyterian Church will celebrate its 150th anniversary, giving us the opportunity to reflect on our past and build for our future. Webster Groves had just 100 residents when Martha Moody led a group of 16 people in petitioning the Presbytery for a new church in the aftermath of the Civil War. The original small wooden structure was established through a covenant signed on March 29, 1866, and was funded by the donations of 26 members and the Presbytery.

Since that time WGPC has been a cornerstone of the community—through 15 decades of growth, change, challenge and joy. We welcome all our members and our broader community as we celebrate 150 Years: Countless Blessings. Infinite Love. Our year-long celebration will include special worship and education opportunities, music, mission and fellowship, as together we remember our long history of blessings and seek new ways to share God’s love.

Watch for the 150th Anniversary logo throughout our newsletters, website, Sunday bulletins and Friday Flashes in the coming year. They will highlight the latest anniversary events and opportunities so that you can join in the celebration all year long!
